Lab will be held Saturday afternoon through Friday breakfast. Registration is from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  After arriving you will have a chance to get registered and unpacked, pick up your name tag and additional lab information, get acquainted with other lab participants and instructors, and explore camp. Please do not arrive before 2:00 p.m., but do plan to arrive in plenty of time to attend opening session at 5:00 p.m.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Casual Clothes ~ Lab is informal!

  • Warm Coat, Hat, Gloves, Snow Boots, Sweater ~ Expect sunshine and/or snow! Days may be warm but evenings in the Hills may be cold. Pack layers!

  • Sturdy Shoes ~ We are in a camp setting.

  • Warm Sleeping Bag, Sheets, Pillow ~ All cabins and the lodge have electric heat, but nights can get cold. Pack accordingly!

  • Towels, Flashlight, Toiletry Items ~ You know what you need! Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Refillable Water Bottle ~ Be prepared for the lure of an afternoon hike!

  • Donate an auction item. Our scholorships are funded by this. 

  • Extra $$$ ~ You may wish to purchase something at the lab auction or the bookstore. Some classes may also have a small fee to cover the costs of materials.

WHERE

The Black Hills Rec Leadership Conference is held at Outlaw Ranch near Custer, South Dakota. Outlaw Ranch is a beautiful camp facility nestled beneath the towering Ponderosa Pine trees near Bismarck Lake. 

Regular accommodations consist of individual cabins with electric heat, 6-8 bunk style single beds, and one double or queen size bed. Central bathrooms and shower facilities are located nearby. A large main lodge serves as the dining area, meeting hall, and general meeting room. Separate buildings provide space for small group gatherings.

A limited number of three person dormitory type rooms are available on a first come basis  There are no single or private rooms available. Please contact our registrar if you would like to check the availability of these special accommodations. Please keep in mind our group living philosophy and remember that someone else’s needs may be greater than yours. Additional $75 per person fee applies.

LAB FEES

Registration fee for the conference is $375. Early bird fee of $350.00 available if registered and paid in full by June 15.  All fees must be paid prior to conference. Registration fee includes meals, cabin lodging, group photo, and access to resource material. Dormitory lodging upgrade may be available for an additional $75. There will be $25 upcharge for gluten free meals. 

A limited number of scholarships are available to first year BHRLL participants. Contact the registrar to obtain a scholarship application.

Some classes may charge a small fee to cover the cost of materials.
